Layer13 makes three small instruments for one desk: a quiet room for drafting, a cutting table for taking text apart, and a map for the thoughts in between. Built slowly, kept local, a little strange on purpose.

A focused, retro-souled editor for long prose.
The flagship. A distraction-free writing room with the manners of an old machine and the reflexes of a new one — segmented manuscripts, deep autosave and recovery, and a screen that stays out of your way.
Cut text apart. Keep the good accidents.
A cutting table for language. Slice drafts, notes, and found text into strips, then shuffle, splice, and recombine them until something you didn’t plan starts speaking.
Maps for nonlinear thought.
Thought-mapping for plans that refuse to be outlines. Branch, cluster, and join ideas with golden seams — a place where the shape of your thinking is allowed to be strange.

One suite for the whole loop: draft in Maru Writer, take the draft apart in Kire Cut-Up, and map what it’s becoming in Mindtsugi. The three tools are being built to sit side by side — one desk, three instruments, one quiet bundle.

Layer13 Software is an independent studio — one desk, a few machines — building creative tools for desktop computers. We make software for writers, nonlinear thinkers, and people who work in fragments: the note that belongs to no folder, the sentence saved for later, the idea that only makes sense sideways.
The house rules are simple. Your writing stays on your machine. The interface stays calm and slightly old-fashioned, in the way a good desk lamp is old-fashioned. Nothing blinks for attention except the cursor. Retro-modern outside, precise underneath, and intentionally not another feed to check.
